Abbey church of Ss Mary and Thomas of Canterbury. The Abbey for Benedictine monks was founded about 1107 by William d'Albini Earl of Arundel, and Maud his wife. The church was originally jointly used by monks and laity, but some time after 1250 was divided: the monks taking the eastern part and the parishioners the western. This parochial part, except for the eastern tower which belonged to the monastery, is almost the only portion of the building remaining.
